Last week, Drupal turned 25.
There were so many great posts reminiscing this anniversary last week, that I was hesitating if I should add my own story. But then... thanks to Drupal, I've learned so many new things, got so many new friends (and payed so many bills!) - I just can't miss this date.
My first DrupalCon was in Copenhagen in 2010

and it looked like a regular 3 day tech conference: sessions, talks, and social events.
The fourth (contribution) day was mentioned on multiple occasions, but the whole idea of paying for an event, and then doing something for free seemed a bit... weird. Only when:
I had to check out early from the hotel and
The hotel was close to the venue and
There was a couple of hours before the next bus to the airport
Curiosity made me a look on what was going at the conference after the conference. I grabbed my luggage and... was bought forever (well, forever until now, that's for sure).
It took another couple of years until I had a chance to actually participate in a contribution day, but this picture of passionate people doing something important for them, together, that I saw for the first time in Copenhagen and continue to see in various other cities in the world, this picture is pure magic that stays.
Happy birthday, Drupal!
